On May 20, Habersham Food 2 Kids Ministry completed the 2021-2022 school year. The group served 58,560 meals for 244 students in all 14 Habersham County Public Schools.
Habersham community volunteers met each Friday morning at Ebenezer United Methodist Church in Hollywood to pack and deliver food bags to each school. These 244 food bags were distributed to school children weekly, ensuring they had food to sustain them through the weekend while they were away from the school’s free Breakfast and Lunch programs.
This would be impossible without the volunteers who pack and deliver weekly, the financial support of individuals, local businesses, civic and benevolent groups, the Habersham County School Counseling staff, and our regional Northeast Georgia Food Bank in Athens and Rabun County.
“We extend our sincere gratitude to all who have contributed, as we look forward to starting our 11th school year, serving the Habersham County children who suffer from food insecurity daily. Habersham Food 2 Kids is a valuable and vital ministry,” said volunteer Nelson Payne.
