Clarkesville author Jason Fowler has penned his second book, a children’s story called “Max and the No Good, Rotten, Worst Birthday Party of All Time.”
It is the story of young Max, who’s so excited about his best friend’s birthday party that he can’t think about anything else – he can’t even sleep. When the day of the party arrives and Max shows up, it all seems as perfect as he imagined until everything – and I mean everything – goes wrong. Embarrassed and angry, Max is ready to go home and never attend another party again when something happens that changes his whole perspective.
“I was inspired by the old classic There’s a Monster at the End of this Book. My kids love that book because every page is like an event – the text and images make them laugh and they get into the simple premise of Grover trying to keep the reader from turning the pages. I like to think of the parent/child/book dynamic to be as interactive as possible,” Fowler said.
The book comes out March 1 and will be available on Amazon.
Fowler is a designer, illustrator and author. After working with numerous authors and illustrating dozens of books, he decided to take everything he’d learned and publish his first book in 2021, Dance and Play the Animal Way.
“There are 2 morals of the story,” Fowler said about Max’s tale. “The first is that things almost never turn out the way you anticipate. The second is that your perspective can make the same situation either terrible or wonderful.
“These are lessons that apply both to the adults reading and the children listening to the story.”
