TFS MATH STUDENTS SHINE
Tallulah Falls School math club members shined during the annual mathematics tournament, hosted by the University of North Georgia. Jingyi “Jason” Sang of China tied for first place in the Upper School Ciphering competition and won first place in the Creative Problem Solving Team competition. Jingan “Jerry” Sang of China won first place as a member of the Creative Problem Solving Team. Walker Bailey of Lula tied for third place in the Upper School Multiple Choice Test. Bailey tied for second place in the Upper School Ciphering competition and won first place as a member of the Creative Problem Solving Team. Jue “Florence” Wang of China tied for third place in the Upper School Ciphering competition and won first place as the fourth member of the Creative Problem Solving Team. In the Data Science Team competition, the TFS team tied for second place; team members included Ming Tang of China, Brynne Massey of Destin, Fla., and Zhigao “Henrry” Xiong of China. Massey also tied for third place in the Under Class Multiple Choice Test.
REBELS OF THE MONTH
Students from each grade level are chosen by teachers. April’s character trait was kindness, and May’s trait was honesty. Students were treated to a pizza lunch with their parents provided by The Torch. Cupcakes were also provided by Sugartopia. Students received a special Rebels of the Month t-shirt.
HAPPY 100TH TO TUSKEGEE AIRMAN
Tuskegee Airman Victor Butler recently stated that all he wanted for his 100th birthday were people to send him cards. Mrs. Green and Mrs. Yarbrough’s 5th-grade classes from Baldwin Elementary School put together a package full of cards filled with birthday wishes. Fifth-Grade students study about WWII and the Tuskgegee Airmen, so when the opportunity presented itself to correspond with a living historical figure and help celebrate his milestone, Baldwin students jumped at the chance.
WILDCAT CHAMPIONS
Woodville Elementary’s Wildcat Champions were recognized on May 20. The Wildcat Champions program recognizes students who have exemplified the Wildcat Code of Conduct. Habersham Electric Membership Corporation, Woodville’s Partner In Education, sponsors the program by providing food, soft drinks, and cookie cake for lunch with the principal. They also generously provide a pencil, certificate, and trophy for each student.
LUNCH WITH THE PRINCIPAL
Students who earned Lunch with Principal Rodney Long for the month of May at Baldwin Elementary are Ryleigh Smith from pre-k, Virginia Pedro from kindergarten, Elizabeth Morales from first grade, Landen Makaukas from second grade, Alex Mondragon from third grade, Liam Vansteenburg from fourth grade, and Sophyah Sanchez from fifth grade.
CLEAN-UP DAY
Fourth and Fifth grade students at Baldwin Elementary competed in a T-shirt design contest for Baldwin Clean Up Day. Valeria Calderon placed first, Oswaldo Flores Salinas placed second, and Ashley Flores Cantor placed third. Valeria’s design was worn by all of the volunteers at the annual Clean Up Day event.
