Demorest celebrates new fire truck

Members of the Demorest Fire Department put their hands on their new fire truck Tuesday and rolled it back into the fire station to carry on a tradition established back when fire departments used wagons and horses. After fire calls, firemen had to wet down the horses and wagons and then push in the wagons into the station. “It’s carried on in the tradition and we will do the same thing,” said Assistant Chief Jerry Palmer. “Thank y’all for being here. This is a very traditional and historic time for the Demorest Fire Department.” In the second photo, Lt. Kyle Dotson, Captain Payton Cagle, Palmer, Chief Jonathan Knight, and Lt. Sam Ausburn led the community in the dedication.
