Demorest residents provide food at council meeting

Demorest residents brought out all the fixings including Chick-Fil-A sandwiches to Tuesday's City Council meeting.

They initially offered the money raised (to buy the sandwiches) to Temperance House Fine Coffee owner Lawrence Bridges with their apologies for causing a disturbance of honking cars May 8 near his business.

Habersham County E-911 Director Lynn Smith remembers them receiving several calls (including anonymous) complaining about the protesting. Bridges reportedly asked they donate it to a charity but did not specify. Protesters had made signs asking people to honk for the resignation of Kim Simonds.
