The arrest Tuesday of Christopher Lee Webb came as a result of the discovery of more than 8,000 images of child pornography distriubtued through Yahoo emails, the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office said.

Investigators from the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Taskforce reviewed the complaint, related subpoenas, and Yahoo Account information before contacting Webb, 40, at his residence in Clarkesville this week.

A search warrant was served on Webb’s residence, where numerous digital storage devices and a laptop were seized. Those items have been placed into evidence and are awaiting forensic examination and processing. Webb allegedly told investigators that he destroyed the laptop he was using to perpetuate this behavior when he believed his activity was being detected.

Webb was initially arrested on one count of sexual exploitation of child and possession of Child Pornography. The ICAC Taskforce intends to work with the District Attorney’s Office to seek additional charges, Habersham County Sheriff’s PIO Kevin Angell said.
