Graveside services for Doris Evelyn Arrowood Hewell, 78, of Alto, were held Tuesday, Jan. 5, in the Arrowood family plot of Blue Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, with the Rev. Jacob Armour officiating.
Mrs. Hewell passed away Monday, Dec. 28, 2020.
Born June 6, 1942, in Cleveland, she was a daughter of the late Gart Arrowood and Mary Lou Hogan Arrowood. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her brothers, Hubert Arrowood and Cecil Arrowood.
She retired from Fieldale Farms after many years of service. Mrs. Hewell was a loving caretaker and enjoyed sewing, flowers and collecting antiques.
Surviving are her son, Nelson Hewell Jr. of Alto; daughter, Wanda Garmany of Alto; grandchildren, Danielle Cockrell of Gainesville, Joshua Garmany of El Paso, Texas, Kaley Thomason of Cornelia, Nikolai Hewell, Judge Hewell and Skylyn Hewell, all of Douglasville, Jayden Hewell and Job Hewell, both of Cornelia; great-grandchildren, Ansley Cockrell, Hadley Cockrell and Benton Cockrell; sisters, Pauline Shoemake of Gainesville, Frances Allen of Cornelia, and Ruby Watson of South Carolina; several nieces, nephews, other family and friends.
