Private family services for JoAnn Elizabeth Nichols Smith, 76, of Alto, will be held at a later date.
Mrs. Smith passed away Thursday, Feb. 11, 2021.
Born Nov. 15, 1944, in Sacramento, California, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Gilbert Forneir Nichols. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, John Carroll Smith; and son, Lawrence "Larry" Smith.
Mrs. Smith was a sales rep with Windstream for many years. She and her husband, John, were owners and operators of the Burns-Sutton Bed and Breakfast in Clarkesville. She was a member of Bethlehem Baptist Church.
Survivors include her son, Daniel Smith of Cleveland; daughter and son-in-law, Melissa and Freddy Schlegel of Cornelia; grandchildren, Justin Smith, Brittany Sosebee, and Blake Sosebee; great-grandchildren, Carter Smith, Jay Smith, Jeffery John Sosebee, and Paislie Crumbley; brother, Richard Nichols of St. Petersburg, Florida; and sister, Cindy Carroll of Columbus, Ohio.
