A celebration of life for Mary Elizabeth Floyd Walden, 87, of Mt. Airy, was held Saturday, April 24, at Clarkesville Baptist Church, with the Rev. Grady J. Walden officiating. Interment was held Sunday, April 25, at Suncrest Memorial Gardens in Moultrie.

Mrs. Walden entered her heavenly home April 22, 2021, at Habersham Home West with her family at her side.

Born Feb. 3, 1934, in Jesup, she was the daughter of the late Rev. John J. Floyd and Sula Hesters Floyd. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Robert Walden Sr.; stepmother, Mae Harkins Floyd; sister, Doris (Marvin) Strickland; and brothers, Nathan (Ginny) Floyd, and Darius Floyd.

Her father moved the family to Moultrie in 1950 to pastor Moultrie Church of God. Here she met her lifelong love, Robert, and was married for 49 years. She worked for Bell-Kennon Tractor Company as a bookkeeper/secretary for 52 years. Later, she worked for nine years at Southwest Georgia Community Action Council. Almost four years ago, she moved to Mt. Airy to live with Grady, her son, and daughter-in-law, Lisa. She joined Clarkesville Baptist Church. Mary loved her church family and quickly became an active member until her sudden illness. She had a great love for welcoming people to become a part of the church.

Survivors include her son, Grady (Lisa) Walden of Mt. Airy; daughter, Ella (Dennis) Fast of Sapulpa, Oklahoma; grandchildren, Brian Walden of Toccoa, Aaron (Ashley) Walden of Cornelia, and Caleb Walden of Kyle, South Dakota; brother, David Floyd of Leesburg; sister-in-law, Virginia Flowers Floyd of Jesup; and several nieces and nephews that she loved dearly.

The following gentlemen served as pallbearers, Brian Walden, Aaron Walden, Caleb Walden, Ronnie Conrad, Alex Long, and Sherwood Freeman.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Clarkesville Baptist Church, P.O. Box 667, Clarkesville, GA 30523.

A special thank you to the staff of Habersham Home West and Hospice of Northeast Georgia Medical Center. "Their care and attention to Mary made our journey of life so much greater."
