Private graveside services for Mary Katherleen Woodward Darnell, 93, of Clarkesville, and formerly of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, will be held at Anderson Memorial Gardens in Oak Ridge, Tennessee, with the Rev. Jonathan Angel and the Rev. Erin Angel, officiating.

Mrs. Darnell passed away Wednesday, Dec. 30, 2020.

Born Nov. 27, 1927, in Glasgow, Kentucky, she was the daughter of the late Joseph Blackburn Woodward and the late Sadie Lee Mayfield Woodward.  In addition to her parents, Mrs. Darnell was preceded in death by her husband, Ernest Wade Darnell; brothers, Wilson Eugene Woodward and Harold Lee Woodward; and sister and brother-in-law, Margaret Louise and Willis Hank Hansford.

Mrs. Darnell was an administrative assistant for Union Carbide Corporation at the K25 Facility in Oak Ridge often referred to as the Atomic City.  She had a true servant's heart and enjoyed doing things for friends and neighbors.  Her family was her pride and joy, especially her grandchildren, and was happiest surrounded by those she loved.   Mrs. Darnell enjoyed cooking, crafts, fishing, gardening, bowling, playing bingo, and was the Cornhole Champion at Alexander Guest House Assisted Living Facility where she resided for four years. Mrs. Darnell was a longtime member of New York Avenue Church of Christ in Oak Ridge, Tennessee. 

Survivors include sons, Michael Wade Darnell of Oak Ridge, Tennessee, and Joseph Edwin Darnell (Robin) of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; daughter, Linda Darnell Angel (Jeff) of Clarkesville; sister-in-law, Mary E. Woodward; grandchildren, Hannah Darnell, Wade Darnell, James Angel and Sullivan Angel; as well as a host of extended family and friends.
