To the editor:
Many of us are struggling to find a way to think how we as a nation could put a stop to another mass school shooting, or church shooting, or store shooting. Perhaps we cannot. But could we at least try to lesson the chances? We passed legislation to make driving safer in seat belts and speed limits.
We could find ways to make use of guns safer. This doesn’t mean taking guns away. It means sensible requirements to purchase a gun. It’s an emotional issue and some stand to gain by selling more guns.
We know that even politicians use the Second Amendment to support opposition to common sense ways of making our children and all of us safer. I for one am depressed. This is something that could have a painless solution.
