THUMBS UP to Habersham Central athletics, coming through with a big sweep of Gainesville High in basketball on Friday night. In a couple of weeks, the Raiders will host the Region 8-6A tournament in hopes of making it to the state playoffs. It also will be a regional showcase for our community.
Spring sports are beginning, and the Lady Raiders’ soccer team is worth watching as a potential all-time great team in school history.

The officers in Memphis who are responsible for the murder of Tyre Nichols are responsible for their own criminal and immoral actions, but they do not represent the whole of law enforcement.
In our local community, we need our sheriff’s office, our city police departments and our Georgia State patrol to protect and serve the public.
We cannot have our public safety threatened by further handcuffing the resources of our local law enforcement officers. We cannot impugn everyone wearing the uniform because of these disgusting men.
We are dealing with a daily crisis of drunk drivers moving up and down our highways, and the Habersham County Sheriff’s Office’s HEAT Unit has arrested hundreds of drivers endangering our motorists. Where would we be without them?
