Eager for hospital merger
To the editor:
This is a letter I sent to John Kueven with Northeast Georgia Medical Center.
I wanted to let you know about recent care that my wife received at both Habersham Medical Center and Northeast Georgia Medical Center. My wife woke up this past Sunday morning with Atrial Fibrillation, a condition she has incurred over the past five years. Since we were out of town, we debated which hospital could best treat her (Chatuge General, Habersham, or NEGMC).
We elected to take Lang to the emergency room at Habersham Medical, and she was treated immediately since her heart rate exceeded 200 and her blood pressure had dropped below 60. Dr. Stuart and Emily, the RN, recognized the severity of the situation and immediately worked to bring down her heart rate and restore the blood pressure to normal levels. After several drip solutions didn’t bring the desired results, Dr. Stuart made the decision to facilitate a cardioversion, which was successful in restoring Lang’s heart rate and blood pressure to normal levels.
After receiving excellent care at Habersham, the medical professionals made the decision to transport Lang to NGMC for further precautionary tests. Again, the care and treatment by the medical professionals in Gainesville was exceptional, confirming the reputation that NGHS’s cardio center is known for in NE Georgia.
Our experience with the two hospitals confirms that the merger of Habersham Medical and Northeast Georgia Medical Center ensures that residents of northeast Georgia will enjoy a high level of medical care and treatment for many years in the future.

Rep. Clyde is failing us all
To the editor:
Why are we burdened with one of the least effective, most partisan Congressional representatives in the country? I ask myself this question every time I read one of Andrew Clyde’s official communications with his constituents, which are filled with false equivalences, partisan rhetoric, and idiotic propaganda. His latest missive, attempting to draw a parallel between Hunter Biden’s federal misdemeanor charges and Donald Trump’s federal felony charges, is the burr under my saddle this week.
I’m trying to find the logic here. The son of a sitting president pleads guilty to two counts of failing to file taxes, before his father was president. The former president knowingly and willfully, based on his own words as quoted in his 30-count indictment, retained classified documents in the most unsecure (and ugly) bathroom ever and showed them off to all sorts and kinds of people, putting our men and women in the armed forces at risk, putting our nuclear security at risk, putting our alliances with other nations at risk, in clear violation of the law.
Andrew Clyde is so desperate to appease what he sees as the Republican base that he is trying to make these two things equivalent to one another, and, in doing so, is claiming that the Department of Justice has been “weaponized” by the current administration. Wrong again. That was something the former guy attempted to do, especially in his last desperate days when he was trying to overturn the results of the election, and Bill Barr and others at Justice wouldn’t go along.
If he hasn’t been convicted by November of 2024, he’ll try to do it again, with disastrous results for our country and the rule of law that governs us all.
Clyde is an embarrassment to the people of this district. Let us ensure that 2024 is his last year in Congress.

Congratulations, Trumpublicans
To the editor:
Congratulations, all of you MAGA Trumpublicans in Georgia! You now have the honor to worship the only criminally indicted President in the world, ever! Soon he will even be found guilty by the federally empowered Department of Justice, as well as all of those others trying to have him indicted!
Now, isn’t that something, making all of those Trump loving, MAGA worshiping Georgia voters hiding in the swamps, mudholes and garbage pits of this state proud and happy? Only a crazed, egotistical, self-loving want-to-be criminal like him could steal federal government classified documents, show them around to all sorts of unauthorized people and still run for a U.S. Presidential candidacy!
You know how that must make his Trumpublican worshipers feel wonderful, like they are in a “13th” heaven!
Honestly, don’t you just love what this country’s politics are becoming? Why soon, we will be equal to the power of Germany in the third and fourth decades of the 20th century! You go, Georgia! “Sieg Heil” to right-wing politics!
