Wisdom comes with age

To the editor: I am writing this article today to give you something to think about – goals, dreams and aging. Some of the greatest things are accomplished and appreciated in life when you are older, as well as some of the greatest memories.

Something amazing can happen if we don’t give up. We can always plan for our next step. It is like having a goal sheet and to-do list. They are helpful tools to push us forward.

It is also amazing what people over the age of 60 have accomplished. For example:

Fauja Singh ran the London Marathon at age 80;

Niana Nyad swam from Havana, Cuba, to Key West, Fla., at age 64;

Roget’s Thesaurus was completed at age 73 and updated every year until his death at 90.

There is wisdom in the elderly. Look at the lifetime of experience that comes with age. It is never too late.

Then there were school dropouts like Thomas Edison, Albert Einstein, Walt Disney, Julie Andrews and more. These things did not define them and they don’t define us.

Never give up!
