Today I’m talking about homegrown tomatoes. We do love them and avail ourselves to them whenever possible, which just happens to be pert-near every day from the day we get the first one.
We love them with garden fresh vegetables and the most important way is of course a big ole juicy tomato sandwich; also known as a MATER sandwich.
Oh, the enjoyment of a fresh tomato sandwich, its summer greatness at its best.
First you start with the bread of your choice and a good mayonnaise, then slather the mayonnaise on each slice of bread and then you want four slices of tomato for each corner or maybe you have a really large tomato that just one slice will cover your bread, salt, pepper, oh so good; and if you desire you can add slices of crispy bacon and lettuce for a delicious BLT.
However, dear friends, if you want to take it to another level, yes, put your tomato sandwich on a baking sheet and place it in the oven at 375 degrees for about 5 minutes or until the bread is toasted. Get out plenty of napkins, because you will need them. Yep, it’s that good. I believe this will be the best tomato sandwich ever. Love to all my dearest friends. God bless you all and enjoy!
And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful. Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom; teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. And whatsoever ye do in word or deed do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God and the Father by him. – Colossians 3:14-17
