Find what inspires you

In January, The Northeast Georgian reached out on social media to find out what inspired our readers during the year 2019.

In the Feb. 7 weekend edition, we told the tale of Sandi Densmore, who battled cancer and won with her loving family by her side.

Another person who answered our call was Amy Hembree of Henry County, whose daughter Kimberly Card co-owns a wedding venue in Clarkesville while taking care of her three young children and doing photography on the side.

“Kimberly inspires me every day with her endless love and energy for her friends and family,” Amy said of her daughter. “She and her loving husband Bryan have it all figured out. I’m 56 years old and I am still struggling to figure it all out. I don’t know how she does it, it’s mind-blowing.”

Amy says mothering is her daughter’s passion, and many people can relate to that with their own children.

Many of us struggle these days to “do it all,” whether it is building a career, or a business, or a marriage or raising children.

Challenges exist everywhere, be they financial or health-related and an infinite number of other roadblocks, but we all have to find that reason to get up every day and keep grinding.

The weather in Habersham County has been abysmal lately, and that makes it that much tougher to get through the day’s business, especially when that day is Monday. But we cannot react like the famous cartoon cat Garfield and just lay around and eat lasagna, tempting as that may sound.

We all have to get up every day because we have people relying on us – our employers, our children … maybe it’s your students or patients, depending on your chosen field.

Some days, we may have mental health issues pushing back on us, but it is in those times that we have to know to lean on someone else.

It is important to find that person in your life who inspires you to be better today than you were yesterday. It can be a family member, a friend, a spouse or even your own children. We have many differences but our sames, if that is a word, are universal.

We all need that inspiration inside to make the most of the life we have on this Earth. So if you are not sure who that person in your life is, now is the time to find them and make them your center.

Through each other, we can all find more ways to serve our families and our communities, to live long and prosper, as a popular television character once asked us to.

Maybe something you do today will inspire someone you have never even met. There’s only one way to find out.
