The human condition
To the editor:
As a guy who loves to critique modern day television programming, I wish to offer two programs that, I believe, define the human condition. One is “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”
This incredibly popular program has been on for 31 years. It features homemade videos of people and animals in every concealable circumstance. Unfortunately, some videos show an incredible lack of common sense or forethought. I will offer some examples involving the cutting of trees. You will view a homemade video of a person cutting a tree onto his house, a person cutting a tree onto his truck, a person cutting a tree onto his neighbor, a person cutting the limb on which he has leaned his ladder and finally, my favorite, a person cutting the limb on which he is sitting. It is as entertaining as it is unbelievable.
Another program that I watch regularly is entitled “American Greed.” It is a program that illuminates the innate desire of a human being to receive something for nothing.
This program features true stories of individuals who, for the most part, have secured their future as well as that of their kids. A fraudster will offer them incredible profits if they will only invest their money with him. They are assured that there is no risk to their money. These normally responsible people suddenly only see riches in their future. They invest life savings, college funds, retirement, inheritances, montages and any other money they can acquire. They, of course, lose everything.
It is so sad to repeatedly see older people have to return to the job force. Many are forced to move in with family. They have absolutely nothing left. This apparently happens regularly in America. It is truly a study in human nature. I will close with the revelation that I am through watching professional sports that are controlled by gutless owners and arrogant millionaire athletes. If I wish to be a part of a social movement, I am certainly capable. I refuse to have it shoved down my throat while I try to watch a sporting event. Thanks for listening.

We can come together
To the editor:
How can anyone call a nation which elected an African-American President – for two terms! – a racist country? It’s absolute nonsense. And it’s stated by people who need to develop the ability to laugh at themselves and to re-learn the resilient, optimistic, compassionate and loving spirit which has always characterized Americans.
I can personally remember the experience in 1996 at the Atlanta Olympics when Blacks and Whites came together in a symphony of love and grace following the bombing in an atmosphere which was close to heavenly. The way the city came together – the ambience in Atlanta after the bombing – was truly beautiful. It was a remarkable and pleasurable experience just riding MARTA, enjoying all of the camaraderie between African Americans, Northerners, Southerners, Asian Americans and everything in between. The spirit of love between us made it one of the most memorable, harmonious and pleasurable experiences of my life. I was but one of thousands of volunteers. So many other such testimonials exist to the noble, beautiful experience which was the Atlanta Olympics.
May God restore the harmony quickly, reestablishing in America and in all her citizens, the best America has to offer, blessing President Donald Trump, Alveda King, Senator Tim Scott, and all those seeking the restoration of reverence, respect and love for truth and justice. And for people who reflect the radiance and beauty of the flag of this nation – “Old Glory” – and all she represents to us and to the world.
May God bless all Americans, keeping all who seek the truth safe and secure, protected by the precepts and the Light which has guided this nation, guiding all Americans to the truth that all who seek the truth will find it and all who know the truth will be set free.
God has blessed this nation from its inception and will bless America again, restoring President Trump to the presidency which is his. God bless all who know this truth and who state it.
May God Bless the USA.
