Thanks for Hemlocks help

To the editor:

A huge thanks to the Habersham County community for embracing the recent History among the Hemlocks event at the Old Clarkesville Cemetery. Close to 200 people attended one of 12 tours held Oct. 29, 30, 31.

Specifically, we’d like to extend heartfelt thanks to:

• Volunteer actors – Brooks Garcia, E. Lane Gresham, Wendy Jackson, Jim Loring and Randy Warren – for investing so many hours in preparing for their outstanding performances;

• Gresham for writing the scripts;

• Virginia Gorday for her stellar fact-checking and research skills;

• Kathy Walker for her spectacular organizational and directorial gifts;

• Kollock and Sutton families for their generosity in sharing images and documents;

• City of Clarkesville for logistical support;

• Carson Sprinkle with CLS Photography for sharing his outstanding gift for photography;

• Scott Compton for his help with lights and set-up;

• Scout Troop No. 5 for the precise timing of the bells;

• Alta Moseley and Habersham Community Theater for behind-the-scenes support;

• Volunteers – Historic Clarkesville Cemetery Preservation, Inc. board members and others – who stepped up to serve as docents and other support for the event;

• Kimsey family for the use of their property for staging and check in;

• Donors who have contributed along the way to continue the preservation and restoration work;

• Neighbors of the cemetery for being tolerant of having an event taking place over Halloween weekend;
