Vaughn making impression in race for manager’s job

Interim County Manager Alicia Vaughn has been on the job since July, and she has given herself plenty to talk about in her next interview for the permanent position. Vaughn has impressed local leaders and made a name for herself as the temporary replacement for the retired Phil Sutton.

Former state reps: LOST not going anywhere

Panther Creek, a popular outdoor attraction for many in the Habersham community, will remain closed until funding is approved by Congress, according to Barb Rainey with the U.S. Forest Service.

Habersham Central Homecoming Court Members

Habersham Central’s homecoming court will be presented Friday night at halftime of the football game between the Raiders and Winder-Barrow. The winner along with the king will be announced at the end of the halftime ceremony. 

Lady Raiders’ bats erupt

The Habersham Central softball team won three out of their four games played over the weekend in a tournament in Morgan County thanks largely to an offensive eruption in all three games won. The Lady Raiders scored a total of 28 runs in those three games.

Lady Raiders take 2 of 3

On a three-match day on Sept. 16, the Lady Raiders volleyball team went 2-1 thanks to impressive, back-to-back straight set wins over Rabun County and Banks County in the last two matches. In a closely contested opening match, they lost 2-1 against Cherokee Bluff.
