By Zach Taylor M t. Airy was a popular railroad and mountain vacation town with a bustling economy and million-dollar views in the late 1800s, to the extent that artist John Kollock painted the scenes from numerous angles during its heyday, and made sure to include its bank.

Qualifying will reopen Monday morning for one seat in Habersham County. No one qualified to run for the Cornelia City Commission Ward 2 seat by today’s noon deadline, requiring the Habersham County Elections and Registration Office to reopen qualifying for that seat only Monday, Aug.

City gets $1 mill grant

By Samantha Sinclair The city of Cornelia was one of 36 communities throughout the state to receive a Community Development Block Grant funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Cornelia was awarded $1 million for multiple infrastructure improvements.
