Balancing the unknowns

By Hannah Caudell      The Habersham County Board of Education has decided to post its intention to opt out of House Bill 581.    The first public hearing on the matter will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Thursday, Feb. 6. Another hearing will be held hours later at 4:30 p.m.

County elects chairman, makes appointments

   The Habersham County Board of Commissioners has a new chairman.    The board elected Commissioner Jimmy Tench to serve as chairman at the opening of their meeting Monday night.

Baldwin honors first fire department graduates

Agreeing to opt in

By Hannah Caudell      Multiple Habersham County municipality leaders decided to approve the resolution of intent to opt into House Bill 581, hoping to allow a new homestead exemption that limits how property taxes increase in the cities and counties.

Habersham sees more snowfall

Rec board considers facility repairs

   The Ruby C. Fulbright Aquatic Center pool deck and the roof of the building are in need of repair.    The county had a Request for Proposal (RFP) out for contractors willing to engage in the work required to restore the pool decking to its former glory run from Nov. 6 through Nov.
