Are you kidding me?

   This community simply doesn’t quit. Especially not when it comes to supporting its own.    Lets face it, two weeks into this season, the Raiders looked pitiful. Nobody would’ve blamed folks for tuning out a bit or throwing their hands up at the 2024 season altogether.

Lady Raiders back in the win column

   The Habersham Central volleyball team was back on its home court Tuesday to take on Rabun Gap-Nacoochee. In an up-and-down, 5-set thriller, the Lady Raiders prevailed 3-2.

Eddy Bear car show raises funds for charity

   Last Saturday, the Eddy Bear Foundation held its annual car show at the Habersham County Fairgrounds.    The foundation collects and donates teddy bears from events to give to children at Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA) and the local sheriff’s departments.

Ga. senate, locals talk farmland preservation

   Members of the Georgia Senate Study Committee on the Preservation of Georgia Farmlands gathered at Habersham EMC on Aug. 30 to hear from the public and discuss the impact of development and growth on Georgia’s farmlands.

   A pair of now-northeast Georgians from St. Petersburg, Florida, sell handmade cigars at a local farmer’s market on HWY 17.    Tim Ganley opens up another entrepreneurial venture, this time in the cigar world.

Clarkesville begins budget talks

   Clarkesville has unveiled a $5.1 million budget and a possible lower millage rate for fiscal year 2025.

Habersham hangs on for rivalry win

   Habersham Central returned home Friday with its back against the wall and desperately hoping to pick up its first win of the 2024 season. The Raiders (1-2) rose to the occasion to beat rival White County, 31-28.    “We needed this win really, really bad,” said HCHS Coach Benji Harrison.

Hab softball picks up another region win

   The Habersham Central softball team has not had an easy go of things so far this season. But Thursday night at home, the Diamond Lady Raiders (2-10, 2-5 Region 8-5A) picked up their second win in the new-look region by taking down Alcovy by a score of 5-3.

Habersham volleyball eyes more wins this week

   Entering play last Thursday, the Habersham Central volleyball team was riding high following wins in 9 of their last 10 matches. That changed Thursday night in Gainesville, however, as the Lady Raiders (9-7) came back to earth with losses to Gainesville High School and Chestatee.

   Established in 2006, Rooster’s Cycle Motorcycle Repair shop was owned by Ken and Jan Walter, two lifelong motorcycle enthusiasts passionate about getting bikes back on the road.
