   Cal Osborne recently achieved Eagle Scout, a rank that less than 10 percent of Scouts reach throughout their years in the organization.

Wrestling through hardships

   A tale of the tape featuring local wrestling legends like Wild Billy Buck, Bobby Popham and Sal Rinauro was part of a grander show of support in Saturday’s arena.

Emergency services respond to multiple fires

By Hannah Caudell      Sunday was a busy day for fire departments and emergency service crews in the Habersham County area as they responded to multiple wood and grass fires and residential fires at the north end of the county and in Baldwin.

Baldwin Fire reports on previous year

   Baldwin City Council discussed numerous public safety reports and updates during its regular meeting Monday night. Among those were Fire Chief Joe Roy’s 2024 department report and upgrades to the police department’s tasers.

Volunteers for Literacy Habersham to host One Book Habersham

Volunteers for Literacy will be partnering with Habersham schools and libraries to bring One Book Habersham: Together We Read to the county again. One Book Habersham (OBH) is a county-wide movement to build community through reading stories together, according to Volunteers for Literacy.

Body found in Cornelia

   A missing person investigation by a sheriff’s office 88 miles away led Habersham County authorities to find human remains in Cornelia early Thursday morning.    The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office was contacted by the Rockdale County Sheriff’s Office at 12:15 a.m. Thursday, Feb.
