Piedmont 5K race to benefit nursing school

   Piedmont University is hosting a 5K race on Saturday in support of American Heart Month.    Typically observed throughout the month of February, the American Heart Association drives American Heart Month to bring awareness to the number one cause of death to Americans today – heart disease.

   The stage is no stranger to Piedmont University actress Dakota Rose Chen, and neither is her heart for those around her.    Last year, fellow Piedmont actor Johnny Seven Goodwyn passed away after complications from leukemia, and took with him a heart for theater challenged by few.

Courthouse deal moves forward

   The sale of the old courthouse to the City of Clarkesville is almost a done deal.

County privatizes gymnastics program

   The county’s gymnastics will soon be in the hands of Reign Elite of Clarkesville for a price of $50,000.    At its regular meeting Monday night, the Habersham County Board of Commissioners approved the purchase agreement negotiated between its committee and Neva Daniels, owner of Reign Elite.

School free lunch program to continue

County OKs entering fire consolidation study

   The Habersham County Board of Commissioners decided to approve the proposal for a fire consolidation study during their regular meeting Monday night after receiving a finalized scope of work presentation from Thad Dixon of SouthEastern Fire Consulting Company at the county retreat Thursday.

Investigations net three drug arrests

   A two-week investigation into illegal narcotics activity in Habersham County culminated Tuesday and resulted in two arrests, seizure of two vehicles, a large quantity of drugs, two firearms, and cash.
