Habersham Central’s track & field team placed a school record eight athletes in the 6A state meet with a strong performance at sectionals in Apalachee over the weekend.
Da’Riyah Bell qualified in the triple jump, her day highlighted by a jump of 35 feet, 6 inches – a new junior record. Amayah Dooley also qualified in the triple jump.
Audrey Hotard won the sectional in both the 1,600 and 3,200 meter events. She’ll run each, as well as the 800 meters, at state.
Brad Chosewood qualified in shot put and discus, shattering the junior records in both.
Western Carolina University signee Landrey Pike also qualified in the shot put.
Aiden Thaxton qualified in the 3,200m with a time of 9:55.15 – another junior record.
Connor Gebora qualified in the 1,600 while Issac Simmons qualified in high jump.
The Raiders will represent Habersham at this week’s State Championship Meet in Rome, beginning Thursday.
