Since the 1999-2000 school year, the Georgia Athletic Directors Association has annually presented the Regions Bank Directors Cup, which recognizes those athletic departments in all GHSA classifications who have excelled and shown superior performance. Points are awarded to each school, in each GHSA classified sport, using the state playoff results. Each school’s highest scoring eight sports for boys and eight sports for girls are used to calculate the school’s awarded point totals.
This year, in Class A-D, Tallulah Falls School finished fourth overall with 834 points.
TFS girls placed third with 503 points while TFS boys scored 331 points for eighth. TFS culminated the year 61st overall out of all GHSA schools in all classifications. This is the highest placing for TFS in its athletic history
The unforgettable 2022-23 school year for Tallulah Falls athletics is capped with the honor of winning the BLITZ Cup Trophy for the first time.
BLITZ, which covers 12 high schools across Northeast Georgia, presents the traveling BLITZ Cup Trophy to the winning school to keep for an entire year until a new winner is named.
Tallulah Falls had a banner year, from the volleyball team winning the state championship, every team advancing to the state tournament/playoffs, four teams winning a Region/Area Championship, a pair of State Championship events, several state-ranked teams, and much more.
Madison Dampier won a state title in swimming and the 4x400 relay team including Julianne Shirley, Molly Mitchell, Sofia Rueda, Sara Bailey (alternate who ran in the prelims) and Dani Prince brought home state gold as well.
Tallulah Falls was also recognized this season by BLITZ with several Teams of the Year: Volleyball, Boys Soccer, Boys Tennis, and Girls Tennis. Five TFS athletes were also named BLITZ Players of the Year: Sarah Jennings (Volleyball), Dampier (Girls Swimming), Austin Ball (Boys Soccer), Ariel Kelsick (Girls Tennis), and Tanner Davis (Boys Tennis).
The BLITZ Cup Trophy will reside in the Student Activity Center lobby’s trophy case for the upcoming 2023-24 school year once it’s delivered to TFS.
