On Friday, Habersham Track hosted the 3rd annual Battle of the Blue Ridge Invitational. This meet brings a number of local teams together including Commerce, Hart County, Lumpkin County, Riverside Military Academy, Stephens County, Tallulah Falls, and Union County.
Both the Habersham boys’ and girls’ teams finished first overall in a dominating fashion, the first time both teams have taken first place in the event. The girls scored 144.5 points overall, 42.5 points more than 2nd place, while the boys scored 186 points total, 80 points more than the second place team.
Aaron Rogers broke his own freshman record in the pole vault with a mark of 9 feet, 6 inches.
The girls’ 4x200 Relay consisting of Emma Green, Reece Scott, Tiara Turk, and Sophie Blackburn broke the school record with a time of 1:55.85.
The boys’ 4x800 consisting of Aiden Thaxton, Ryan Martin, Connor Gebora, and Jose Queriapa broke the school record with a time of 8:33.28.
Audrey Hotard broke her own sophomore record in the 800 meters with a time of 2:27.59.
Brad Chosewood broke the junior record in the shot put with a throw of 53 feet, 3 inches.
