Hab hoops teams win region titles

Lady Raiders, Raiders to enter state tourney as 1-seed

Both Habersham Central High School varsity basketball teams captured 8-5A region championships Friday night in Mt. Airy.

The Lady Raiders powered past Clarke Central 39-30 in the girls championship game.

In the nightcap, the HCHS boys topped Winder-Barrow 76-68 in a heavyweight title bout.

Jojo McCurry finished with a team-high 19 points, while Jalen Davis and Jake Mihalick added 17 apiece. Enzo Combs added 14.

Both Habersham clubs will host the opening round of the GHSA state tournament next week .... against the same school. As a result, Raider Gymnasium will be the site of an playoff double header on Wednesday. The girls play Northside (Warner Robins) at 6p.m., with the boys to follow at approximately 7:30.
