Freshmen Abigail and Audrey Hotard continued a monster first varsity season that began with cross country by qualifying for several state and sectional track events Tuesday.
Audrey Hotard was the region champion in the 3,200 meters with a time of 12:01, breaking her own freshman record and qualifying for sectionals. Abigail Hotard took second at 13:11, also qualifying for sectionals
The Hotard sisters joined Macy Smith and Angela Lee on the 4x800 relay team that placed third and qualified for sections with a time of 11:04.
The boys 4x800 meter relay team of Jose Queriapo, Aiden Thaxton, Ryan Martin, and Garrett Heaton is headed to sectionals after placing fourth and breaking the school record with a time of 8:33.
In field events, Brad Chosewood won the region championship in the discus with a throw of 158 feet, 5 inches, breaking his own sophomore record, as well as placing third in shot put with a throw of 48 feet, 1.25 inches, qualifying for sectionals in both events.
Sammy Guest placed fourth in the pole vault with a mark of 10 feet, qualifying for state.
Landrey Pike placed third in shot put with a throw of 32 feet, 10.25 inches and fourth in discus with a throw of 99 feet, 4 inches, qualifying for state in both events.
Garrett Heaton placed fourth in long jump with a mark of 21 feet, 6 inches, qualifying for sectionals.
The regional meet wrapped up after press time Thursday. Sectionals are May 7 at River Ridge High School.
