Raiders cruise into GHSA Elite 8

Lady Raiders come up just shy

The Habersham Central boys basketball team pulled off another wire-to-wire playoff win at home over the weekend, downing Brunswick 72-60 in the GHSA Sweet 16. With the victory, the Raiders (27-3) advance to the Elite 8 where they will take on Tri-Counties (Buena Vista) Wednesday.

Because Habersham remains the lowest remaining seed in their portion of the bracket, the game will be played in Mt. Airy.

The Lady Raiders saw their season come to an end Saturday, as they dropped their Sweet 16 matchup to Brunswick 39-35.

But not without a fight.

Facing a 25-12 deficit in the third quarter, Habersham's girls rallied, eventually finding themselves trailing just 38-35 with under two minutes remaining. In the end though, the Pirates were able to survive and advance.
