Soque River Spurs set for banquet

The Soque River Spurs, the local chapter of the National Wild Turkey Federation, will hold its annual fundraising dinner at 6 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at the Community House in Cornelia.

The event is in its ninth year and will feature dinner, auctions and raffles of outdoor merchandise.

“The event is a lot of fun for sportsmen, women and children, and it gives us a chance for fellowship and to keep our mission alive,” chapter president Brent Edwards said.

The Soque River Spurs put their time and effort into local conservation and wildlife projects in the community. The overall mission of the National Wild Turkey Federation is “Healthy Habitats, Healthy Harvests.”

There also will be an opportunity for children to sign up for the organization’s dove shoot event, which will take place in September.
