Rainy Christmas not nearly as bad as frozen one in 2022

   A wet Christmas beats a frozen one any day of the week.    After suffering through all-time low temperatures last Christmas weekend, the biggest weather challenge this year over the holiday weekend was about 2.5 inches of rain.

Criser marks successful first year leading Piedmont

   January will mark one year since Marshall Criser stepped into the role of president at Piedmont University, and it is safe to say he’s enjoyed his time on the campus and in the mountains.    “I love this university. I love this community.

County breaks bank on middle management in ’23

Cornelia shines bright for all

   Cornelia City Park fills with Christmas lights and decorations every holiday season and sees thousands of visitors who come to see the lit up reindeer, snowmen, elves who are sure to get someone into the holiday spirit.

Raiders make a splash in final meet of ’23

   The Habersham Central swim team was in Athens over the weekend for the Clarke-Oconee Invitational. The meet, held at University of Georgia’s Gabrielsen Natatorium, was hosted jointly by Clarke Central and Oconee County high schools. The event fielded 28 men’s teams and 22 women’s squads.

Habersham hurler headed to Oglethorpe

   Habersham Central’s Konner Burrell has done plenty for the Diamond Raiders over the years – pitching, playing first base and appearing in the outfield for Coach Chris Akridge’s club.

Raiders stay hot, edge Greer in showcase

   The Raiders were riding a five-game win streak, but hardly anybody gave them a chance to extend it to six against 10-1 Greer (S.C.) in the Franklin County Showcase over the weekend.    Yet an impressive Habersham defensive effort ultimately proved the difference in a 59-58 Raider victory.
