Residents look for answers in Harvest Church project

Looming on the plate of Habersham County Planning Commission is the new development on Harvest Church Road near Hayes Corner. The development has been a sensitive topic for the community surrounding it, as some wish for development in safer locations while others do not want the development at all.

Legislators give 2023 session solid grades

Youth musical group making debut tour

The Clarkesville Pops are Habersham County’s premier homeschool music ensemble. They meet for rehearsal at the School of Future Arts in Clarkesville and are conducted by Justin Freeman. The average age of the performers is 11.

Demorest’s past becomes the future

Demorest’s future begins with a link to its past. The city opened up its new headquarters for the public to see Monday evening, showing off its new centerpiece that contains administrative offices and the water department, with more to come down the road at the former Demorest Elementary School.

Young Georgia Authors put their best books forward

Every year, the Young Georgia Authors hosts a writing competition for students of all ages across the state to show off their writing skills. The YGA competition is sponsored by the Georgia Languages Arts Supervisors, or GLAS, and the Georgia Regional Education Service Agencies (RESA) Network.

Fire devastates pastor’s home

Two adults and five children escaped injury Monday morning when their home caught fire in the Hollywood community. Habersham County E-911 received a call at 6:17 a.m. reporting a fire on the back porch area of the 2,000-square-foot brick home on a full basement.
