COVID testing site remains open

Habersham Medical Center’s COVID-19 testing site was up and running at the hospital last Thursday, open to provide tests to members of the community who believe they may have been exposed or experience symptoms associated with coronavirus.

Hatchett eyes busy session for Assembly

Schools put emphasis on mental health

Recognizing how mental health issues affect today’s adolescents at astronomical rates, the Habersham County Board of Education pledged their support during the Jan. 12 Board of Education meeting as the district’s mental health specialists continue to work to reach students in need.

Izzy freezes Habersham

Habersham County was one of the hardest-hit areas in the region as Winter Storm Izzy ravaged the area with 6-8 inches of snow, ice and high winds over the weekend, knocking out power for tens of thousands for multiple days in some cases.

Historical groups work to restore Chenocetah Tower

Volunteers with the organization HistoriCorps, a group dedicated to restoring historic structures and places throughout the nation, journeyed from states all across the U.S. to Habersham County this week, determined to restore portions of the Chenocetah Fire Tower in Cornelia.

Autumn Fry will walk on stage during the 2022 Habersham Central High School graduation as a mid-year graduate at the age of 16, thanks to the driving force behind her motivation to finish early – her family.
