Raiders, Indians look to continue winning ways

   The Tallulah Falls girls basketball team kicked off the school’s Senior Night with a dominating 69-28 win over the visiting Loganville Christian Academy. Senior Barrett Whitener led the team with 17 points.

Demorest fire victim identified

   A Demorest man died in a camper fire Friday morning on Habersham Mills Road.    Multiple local fire departments were dispatched to help, but the camper was fully engulfed and was a total loss. The investigation was turned over to state fire officials.

Raiders basketball back after snowy postponements

Habersham Central’s boys and girls basketball teams made it double regional sweeps on back-to-back nights. Both the boys and girls basketball teams picked up a region win against Winder-Barrow last night. The girls rode an electric 20+ point first quarter to a close out a 51-48 win.

American Values dinner set for March 3

The Northeast Georgia Council, Boy Scouts of America will host its annual American Values Dinner on Thursday, March 3, at the Commons Dining Hall on the campus of Piedmont University. Each year this dinner recognizes three outstanding community leaders with the Distinguished Citizen Award.

Habersham yearbook earns state honor

Out of roughly 800 public high schools, Habersham Central High School’s 2021 yearbook, Cutlass, has been named the winner of the Georgia Scholastic Press Association large school classification.

Chenocetah Tower to Undergo Restoration HistoriCorps, a national volunteer preservation agency, is partnering with the Chattahoochee National Forest to restore our treasured landmark, the Chenocetah Tower. The second group of volunteers will work from Jan. 17-21.

Love for Literacy Raffle under way

There’s a new raffle opportunity in town and it could put $5,000 in your bank account. Volunteers for Literacy (VFL) kicked off the first annual Love for Literacy $5,000 Raffle in November and will hold the drawing to determine the winner on Feb. 14.
