Baldwin issues boil water advisory

Update: After the Baldwin City Council meeting Thursday night, Public Works Director Scott Barnhart announced another pipe burst on Willingham Avenue.
The county still does not have a tax digest for determining property tax revenue for the $40.8 million general fund budget, but staff prepared a balanced budget based on estimates that growth was at four percent.

Try to beat the summer heat

By Hannah Caudell The start of the summer will be hitting the Northeast Georgia area with a vengeance this week, as Habersham County residents could experience temperatures reaching over 100 degrees Fahrenheit on the heat index. It’s not exactly a heat wave for Habersham.

State press association honors news staff

Matthew Osborne, former editor of The Northeast Georgian, was the sole award winner for the paper in the Georgia Press Association’s 2025 Better Newspaper Contest on Friday at the Jekyll Island Club during the group’s 138th annual convention.

By Hannah Caudell      Myra Chandler has just finished counseling her 50th graduating class.    Chandler, who just retired from a counseling position at Mountain Education in Habersham, has been the high school counselor of many names in the county and beyond.
