Habitat for Humanity dedicates 71st home

Habitat for Humanity of Northeast Georgia dedicated its 71st house Sunday, July 21, to the Rodriquez family in Cornelia. Over 75 people attended the dedication celebration to welcome the family into their new home.
Shown is the first railroad locomotive in which Jarvis Van Buren had a role in assembling. It made its historic run from Schenectady to Albany, New York, on Aug. 9, 1831.

Jarvis Van Buren leaves behind legacy in city of Clarkesville

Clarkesville resident John Lunsford recently got his hands on copies of some detailed painting of apples given to him by Frank Tufts, a family friend. These apples painted by renaissance man Jarvis Van Buren tell only a small portion of the impact he made on the city of Clarkesville.

Demorest City Council calls Thursday meeting

The Demorest City Council has called a meeting for 6 p.m. tonight, July 18, at the Demorest Municipal Building, 125 Ivy St., Demorest. The purpose of the meeting is to review and possibly vote on an agreement between the city and Piedmont College regarding Massachusetts Boulevard.
