TFS volleyball tips off ‘24 season

In what marks the biggest roster church in recent program history, the Lady Indians have their work cut out for them. A TFS team that just won the State Championship two seasons ago returns two starters - Rebecca Heyl and Chesney Tanksley.

Raider volleyball back at it this week

Habersham Central’s volleyball team was back in action after press time Tuesday as the Lady Raiders headed to Dahlonega to take on Lumpkin County (2-2) and Tallulah Falls (0- 0) in a tri-match. The matchup with TFS was a rare one.

One final flight of dreams

   Bill “Mac” McNamara has harbored a lifelong love for all things skyward.    McNamara was born in Buffalo, New York, on July 30, 1943. Though his family growing up did not come from a military or aviation background in general, McNamara often looked to the heavens.

Demorest council clashes over grant writer

   It was throwback night at Demorest City Council’s meeting Tuesday, as daunting financial challenges and ugly strife among the councilmen reared their heads for the first time since the prior board regime.

Improvements needed on Clarkesville sewer system for new development

Lady Raider volleyball battles through tough early matches

   Habersham Central’s volleyball team opened up its season with a night full of action at White County High School in Cleveland.    Tuesday’s tri-match pitted the Lady Raiders against East Jackson and White County.

Lady Raiders going for first win

   Habersham Central lost a tight one 4-3 to Stephens County on Thursday afternoon.    The Lady Raiders (0-4) play at Stephens in a rematch Monday.    Read more in the midweek edition of The Northeast Georgian.

Schools enjoy ‘best first day’

   Schools opened Friday with a flourish, as kids strapped on the backpacks again less than 48 hours after saying goodbye to July.    Superintendent Matthew Cooper visited all the schools once again and was pleased with what he saw.
