Christmas fun coming soon to a town near you

   Clarksville’s downtown Christmas parade will celebrate 200 years of history in the city with the theme “Christmas Through the Ages,” honoring Clarkesville’s bicentennial.

North Georgia Jews feel impact of war

   Millions of Jews in America have felt the impact of the Israel-Hamas war whether it’s through the stories of relatives in the Middle East, acts of antisemitism at home or the destruction of Israel – a Jewish state they see as their ancestral homeland.

Baldwin breaks ground on public works building

   The City of Baldwin broke ground on the site for a new 7,000-square-foot public works facility on Industrial Park road Wednesday morning. The facility will replace the current building located off of Willingham Avenue, which Mayor Stephanie Almagno said is not up to the city’s standards.

Roberts feted for lifetime achievement

   Rope Roberts thought he was just going to have lunch with the Georgia Economic Developers Association on Monday, but he walked out with a lifetime achievement award.

   Councilman John Hendrix has just six more weeks left on his adventurous four-year term on Demorest City Council, but this week, he found himself embroiled in one last controversy for the road.

Latest chase nabs burglary suspect

   A North Georgia man suspected of burglary was arrested after yet another local chase Sunday.    Joshua Adam Doster, 46, is from Habersham County though his identification lists him as a resident of Cumming, said Habersham County Sheriff’s Investigator George Cason.

Almagno takes reins of Baldwin

   Stephanie Almagno was sworn in as mayor of Baldwin at Monday night’s council meeting following her convincing win last Tuesday which makes her the first woman duly-elected as mayor of the city. Habersham County currently has three women mayors in Alto, Baldwin and Clarkesville.

Breakfast honors best in agriculture

   Habersham County Farm Bureau hosted its annual Farm-City breakfast on Friday morning in Clarkesville in advance of Farm-City Week, which is Nov. 22-29.
