Young detectives get a crash course

For the first time, Habersham County Sheriff’s Office partnered with the county’s School Resource Officers to offer a week long Crime Scene Summer Camp, where kids could sign up to learn the ins and outs of thinking like a detective.

Abandoned building still has potential

Nestled in the corner of Williams and Chatham Street in Baldwin is a building lost to time. The building is believed to have housed a manufacturing company producing textiles originally, but now sits littered with waste and graffiti. The land is currently owned by Norfolk Southern, a rail company.

Barrett, all-stars set for trip to Chicago

Habersham Central basketball standout and Anderson University commit Kyia Barrett continues to showcase her skills with the Buford-based Southeast All-Stars travel team. The team is gearing up for a trip to Chicago to play in the Nike Tournament of Champions, July 7-10.

Despite his success, Rowe ‘just playing golf’

Standing on the 14th tee box Monday, Jack Rowe of Clarkesville knew that to have anything resembling a chance, he’d need to pull off something crazy. Moments earlier. The HCHS had three-putted the 13th and now sat at 2-over par heading into the home stretch.

Baldwin makes progress on K9

The City of Baldwin’s recent addition of a K-9 unit in March has the police department looking forward to the unofficial police dog, Nikos, going on duty.

Small town doc says goodbye

Dr. William McLean retires today after serving and caring for the Habersham County community for 40 years. McLean, originally from Kingston, N.C., moved to Habersham soon after completing his residency working through extremely long shifts.

Veterans pushing for clinic in Habersham
