Habersham Community Theater gets its name in lights

   Habersham Community Theater (HCT) is excited to announce the installation of two LED boards to replace the hand-lettered marquees which were part of the Historic Habersham Theater when it was constructed in 1937.     The digital marquee had an approximate cost of $40,000.

Habersham Home hit hard by COVID-19

   Habersham Medical Center officials said Wednesday that universal testing of employees and residents for COVID-19 is one of the main reasons for data indicating that Habersham Home nursing facility has one of the highest concentrations of the virus in Georgia – including 10 deaths.

ELECTION 2012: Four candidates seek Rogers' seat for House District 10

   Four candidates are running for the Georgia House of Representative District 10 seat, which includes White and Habersham counties.    The field includes Republicans Victor Anderson, Robert Crumley and Jimmy Dean and Democrat Nick Mitchell.

Summer begins with questions about next school year

   Today is the last day of the 2019-20 school year that was unlike any other in history.     After running the learning-from-home program for the last two-plus months, faculty and staff members are already preparing for multiple scenarios for how to start the 2020-21 school year.

County candidates finally meet face to face

   For the most part, candidates at Tuesday’s first Farm Bureau political forum did not address one another, just issues.    But just before the end of the segment for probate judge candidates, Cindy Freeman made her feelings known about recent actions by her opponent, incumbent Judge Pam Wooley.
