Kids beat the heat ... with reading

   Baldwin held its Mayor’s Reading Club Summer Kickoff event on June 7 to celebrate the installation of a Little Free Library at the Baldwin Farmers’ Market.    The city raised $1,000 from community sponsors to install the Little Free Library, where anyone can donate or take a book at no cost.

    Fenders Alley is on track to become a go-to venue for music entertainment and top-notch bands in North Georgia.    Fenders Alley opened in late 2021 beside Fenders Diner.

   Christian Cooper has found himself canoeing through the swamps of Louisiana and hiking a hundred miles through the dry heat of New Mexico. But most recently, Cooper found himself standing in front of a board of review who named him an Eagle Scout – a goal a decade in the making.

Runoff heats up as early voting starts Saturday

   The Habersham County Commission District 1 runoff is two weeks away with early voting opening Saturday, and the remaining candidates are pushing hard to represent not only their constituents, but a potential swing vote on the board.

Clarkesville seeks possible hotel in the downtown area

   A series of recent studies by the University of Georgia found that the demand for another hotel in Habersham County “exceeds all other counties in the Blue Ridge area,” and the city of Clarkesville could look to fill that void in the near future.
