Indians soccer teams fall in tight 2nd round games

Another dominant soccer campaign came to a halt Wednesday at Tallulah Falls’ Amick Field, as both the Indians and Lady Indians were bounced from the GHSA Sweet 16. Each squad fell to Mount Vernon by a 2-1 margin.    The TFS soccer program had a unique postseason.

The candidates for president earn a lot of headlines, but most often it is our local public officials who can change our individual and community destinies.    Early voting runs from April 29 to May 10, Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Elections Office/South Precinct in Cornelia.

Locke Arnold cannot even remember how many times he has run for District 5 commissioner, but he will not stop trying to get his message out to the people.    “We have problems,” Arnold said. “We spend too much money that we don’t have. We just raised taxes. We are hiring too many people.”

Ty Akins is in his second year as chairman of the Habersham County Board of Commissioners, but he is hoping to serve one full term representing District 5.    “I didn’t do a full term to begin with, and I would like to serve one full term,” Akins said.
