Clarkesville to host History Harvest Event

   In honor of Clarkesville’s Bicentennial, the City of Clarkesville will host The Clarkesville History Harvest event on Saturday, Oct. 28, at the Historic Mauldin House.

Ethics complaint filed in Baldwin mayoral race

   Baldwin mayoral candidate Tom Whitney said he filed an ethics complaint with the State Board of Elections alleging his opponent, Councilwoman Stephanie Almagno, had campaign signs placed too close in proximity of city equipment at Saturday’s Fall Festival in Baldwin to promote her campaign.

Auto shop raises money for cancer research

   When getting your car serviced at Barrett Automotive’s shops in Cornelia and Eastanollee, you can also support breast cancer research.    The local auto repair shop is hosting the “Brakes for Breasts” fundraiser for the fourth year.

Deputies seek fake officer

   Hall County Sheriff’s Office and the GBI are looking for a man who is impersonating an officer on Highway 365.    The suspect stopped two teenage victims as they were traveling on Cornelia Highway the night of Sept. 30.

   Ian Holbrook was in fifth grade at Demorest Elementary School, when he read the book “Finding His Quiet Place: The Story of T Cumming, the World’s Youngest Master Diver,” which explores a boy’s journey with scuba diving.

Raiders among top 10 Ga. grads again

   Graduation rates in Georgia and Habersham County saw an increase in 2023.    Habersham County’s overall graduation rate for 2023 was 97.8 percent – up three-tenths of a point from last year – which puts the county back in the top 10 graduation rates of Georgia’s traditional school systems.
