Raiders stifle Bulldogs, make it two straight

   Habersham football was finally back in town Friday night and the Raiders did not disappoint in their return, delivering a 28-10 victory over Forsyth Central.    “I’m definitely proud of the way we went out and competed,” said Raiders coach Benji Harrison.

   THUMBS UP to The Chattahoochee Mountain Fair, which has already been a rousing success since beginning last Friday. Between talent shows, animal attractions, rides and carnival treats, the fair has lived up to its reputation as one of the best events of the summer.

Raiders look to keep AC running

   The Raiders perhaps found themselves a reliable workhorse last Friday night in Lawrenceville in Antonio Cantrell.

Former TFS state champ making early mark in college

   Sarah Jennings was a star for the Lady Indians volleyball program. During her days at Tallulah Falls, the Clarkesville native secured school records for kills, digs and aces. Though the former two remain intact, the aces was surpassed this week by current TFS standout Addy McCoy.

Lady Raiders still seek foothold on momentum

   Habersham Central softball (3-12, 2-4 Region 8-6A) has struggled mightily so far this season. Last week was a good one that featured a doubleheader sweep of Gainesville.    But that streak was short-lived as the Lady Raiders now find themselves looking for renewed momentum.

Demorest seeing massive uptick in development

   Demorest City Council had its first meeting in its new space at city hall Tuesday, now dubbed the Demorest Municipal Conference Center.    Municipal court began there Wednesday as well, marking a new era for the city and its burgeoning headquarters.

Airport finds water in jet fuel

   The Habersham County Airport Commission, at its September 14 regular monthly meeting, learned a recent load of Jet A fuel was heavily contaminated with water.

Animals play star roles at fairgrounds

   The Chattahoochee Mountain Fair held livestock shows from Saturday until Tuesday night at the outset of the eight-day event.    The shows for market hogs, commercial dairy cows, beef cattle, goats and sheep were a great display of what Northeast Georgia had to offer in livestock and showmanship.
