Aspen Dental, not donut shop, coming to Cornelia

The City of Cornelia has seen some recent business developments recently, and with the recent construction next to Chick-Fil-A, another one will be added to the list. Contrary to rumblings on social media, there will not be another donut chain coming to Habersham County.

Rabun Gap rising freshmen honored

Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School celebrated the Class of 2027 on May 25 during the Middle School Moving Up Ceremony in the Rearden Theater. The event marked the transition to Upper School for the class of 42 eighth-graders. Head of Middle School Mr.

Woodmaster earns certification

Holding a passion for public service, Emily Woodmaster, the City of Baldwin’s chief administrative officer and city clerk, has just achieved recognition as a Certified Public Manager. Woodmaster was one of over 125 governmental leaders within the state to be recognized by the University of Georgia.

Masons honored

On June 4, Cornelia Masonic Lodge No. 92 had the pleasure of honoring Brother Ross Martin for 60 years of service, along with Worshipful Brother Clarence Lewallen and Brother Robert Barron for 50 years of service to Free Masonry.

Historical marker set to be unveiled for Big Holly Cabin

The City of Clarkesville along with The Georgia Historical Society will dedicate a new historical marker at the Big Holly Cabin on Friday, June 9. The marker will serve to commemorate the historic pioneer cabin and the early settlers of Habersham County.
The sinkhole, which was originally discovered Wednesday May 31, is on the road to repairs, with work to begin Monday June 12.

Cornelia road closed Monday for sinkhole

Last week, residents of Cornelia noticed a hole in the road between Hodges Street and Appletree Alley. The city did some further investigation to discover the cause of the issue.

Habersham Schools providing summer meals for kids

Even though school is out for summer and the hallways of schools are desolate, that doesn’t mean that those who work in the district stop caring for the students. While students are no longer wandering the halls of the schools they have grown to love, they are still receiving a vital resource.

Habersham County Animal Care receives donation

Habersham County Animal Care and Control is set to receive a $30,000 grant investment from national nonprofit Petco Love in support of their lifesaving work for animals in Habersham County.

Development Authority eyeing data farm in Baldwin

The Baldwin City Council had their monthly work session Tuesday night, but with the absence of chief administrative officer Emily Woodmaster, the council and mayor wanted to hold off on discussion of a memorandum of understanding between the city and Stephens County in regard to a fire truck.
