St. Thomas the Apostle Anglican Church in Alto has welcomed a new priest, Father Damien Trudeau, who is now calling Habersham County home after serving on mission in South Africa.

Bomb threats go silent for now

The bomb threats against colleges in Georgia stopped Wednesday, at least for the time being.

When Tuesday’s contentious meeting between Habersham County and Tallulah Falls ended, it looked like the chances of an intergovernmental agreement (IGA) on the Roads & Bridges SPLOST plan were dead.

Mellichamp still in charge at Piedmont

Piedmont University seems set on keeping President James Mellichamp in control of the school to begin the fall semester. Mellichamp announced his retirement this summer, but he said he would remain until a permanent successor was chosen.

Benefit bass tourney moved to new location

The location of a bass fishing tournament, intended to raise funds for Demorest firefighter for 22-year-old Garrett Reiser and his family, has been changed. The boat ramp for those participating in the fundraiser will now be located at Tugaloo State Park mega ramp at 1763 Tugaloo State Park Rd.
