Wanted men sought

The Habersham County Sheriff’s Office has been seeking two wanted men for the last week. Paul Dylan Gross, 28, is wanted in reference to several warrants for his arrest. Previous warrants include filing/eluding officers, reckless driving and obstruction.

Pause and reflect - Veterans, youth unite to honor fallen soldiers

Habersham County’s veterans organizations are gearing up to remember those who have given their lives in service of their country. There are two Memorial Day events planned for Monday in the county, but the first task was the decoration of graves, which began Thursday.

Demorest City Council has debated every angle of Fourth of July fireworks, including having them as planned, cancelling them altogether and moving the fireworks to Christmastime.

New era off and running - Mawdesley sets sail as Raiders’ new coach

Last Friday, the Habersham County Board of Education approved the hire of Aric Mawdesley to lead the Raiders’ basketball program.  “We’re awful lucky to get somebody of his stature that can be as good as I think he can be at this late of date,” Raiders Athletic Director Geep Cunningham said.

Habitat for Humanity breaks ground for family’s new home

Habitat for Humanity broke ground at the site of what will soon become a Habersham County family’s new home. Tinisha Combs and her two children were selected by the organization for a new three-bedroom, two-bathroom house on Arizona Street in Demorest.
