TFS track takes 3rd place in state

Tallulah Falls’ men’s track and field team saved its best for the last meet of the year, posting a third place finish at the state meet at McEachern High School last weekend. The third-place finish is TFS’ best team finish in program history.

Raiders close well at state

After posting one of its best seasons in program history, the Raiders track team wrapped things up Saturday with a handful of outstanding individual performances at the Class 6A track meet last Thursday through Saturday in Carrollton.

Gloaming Picnic and Art Auction raises more than $6K

Appletree Alley nearing completion

Appletree Alley’s facelift in Cornelia is almost done. City Manager Donald Anderson said the project should finish up in the next week or two, despite being slightly delayed by rainfall a couple of weeks ago. Discussions about the $1 million streetscape construction project began in 2013.

Still no update on missing Tennessee girl

Jaylei Smith, the 13-year-old Tennessee native who disappeared with a Clarkesville man last week, still has not been found.

Being in the hospital is difficult for anyone, but “Miss Cheryl” always did her best to brighten patients’ days. Cheryl Crumley, 63, passed away Friday after more than four decades of service to Habersham Medical Center as a food service supervisor.

Sutton set to step down as county manager

In a stunning move Monday, longtime County Manager Phil Sutton announced he is retiring in July. Sutton has been Habersham County’s manager since Sept. 16, 2013, and his last day will be July 16, unless he decides to stay for one last commission meeting on July 19.

Mountain Laurel brings smiles, fun

Clarkesville was teeming with folks enjoying life Saturday, as the Mountain Laurel Festival brought a return to normalcy for more than 3,000 of the city’s closest friends and neighbors. “I thought it was a great success,” Clarkesville Main Street Director Trudy Crunkleton said.
