Missing girl found in Austin, Texas

Jaylei Smith, the missing girl from Tennessee who was last seen in Clarkesville 10 days ago, was found safe late Wednesday night in Austin, Texas. Smith, 13, was seen in a surveillance photo from a Clarkesville gas station with a 21-year-old man who was with her.

Raiders eyeing new boys basketball coach

   Pending approval from the Board of Education, Habersham Central has found its new head basketball coach to lead the Raiders’ program.

Irvin honored

Raider baseball alum Peyton Irvin was named to the All-USA South West Division Second Team Thursday. After a solid debut season in 2020, Irvin became one of Piedmont’s most reliable hurlers this season. In 2021, he ranked second on the team in both innings pitched, with 77.1, and wins with eight.
Former Lady Raider Paige Cook was named to the All-SEC Newcomer Team last week. Cook, a sophomore, has started every game this season for Mississippi State and currently ranks fifth on the team with a .272 average. She also leads the team in triples and has three home runs.
